I own two of these for more than a year. One is loaded with 80GB and other - with 250GB HDD. No problems with either one. I used them with Win XP and Win 7 x64 with no problems ever. Quality could be better, but for the price I paid I consider it being a good value. Actually, the only quality issue was encountered during assembly, but I was able to line-up those screws in threaded holes.
Supplied Carrying Case must be called "dust cover", since that's the only thing it can provide. I purchased 'Case Logic' Case EHDC-101 from this site - it has a perfect fit and provides great protection for carrying it around.
Would I recommend it? Yes, if you a looking for cheap, but still a decent kind of enclosure.

Purchased the enclosure after the motherboard of my laptop went down… The HDD sled in perfectly and had no problems with the little screws. Now I use the HDD as extra storage for my tower PC, but the best thing is that I could access my data again!!!
I highly recommend this enclosure, besides you will never go wrong at this price!

I've now had this unit for a couple of months. I have taken the hard drive in and out of it probably a good 8 times. It's had three drives in it.
The reason why people complain about the screw alignment issue is because they don't take the time to realize that it only fits one way. If it doesn't line up, flip it and you will see how stupid others have been.
Unit works perfectly. I have it set up with a 160Gb that I took out of my laptop. Use it to stream to my Samsung TV and my PS3 perfectly.

Excellent product... comes with double cable and full USB connector on case. It even works with Dish Network DVR where requirements call for a powered external hard drive.

I just got this today, and I must say that it is much better quality construction than I expected for less than ten bucks. Aluminum all around (except for the plastic end caps), solid board & SATA interface inside, and a decent cable (it's A-male to A-male with a Y-split at one end for extra power). I've got a WD Caviar 160GB drive in it that I harvested from a dead laptop, and so far it's working great. I didn't have to use the extra USB for power, but your experience may vary. I would HIGHLY recommend this enclosure (I may even buy another) as it is the same quality that I've seen in units priced $20 or more.
The only "con" that I can think of (and this is pretty picky for the price) is the sleeve that comes with this is not cushioned at all. It merely protects the cosmetics of the unit, but padded drive cases can be found lots of places for cheap.

enclosure has no vents, and the case has trouble with alignment so that you can hardly get ths screws in 100%. now 2.5 drives put off less heat but you still need to try to keep it running in cool environments and not for too long. other wise it does the job.
funky double-headed USB im not sure that's needed. i use just the 1.

Does the job... Might not be the best enclosure out there, but it is a damn good one. For the money spent, you can't get a better one. 5 stars...

I bought this enclosure to make a small portable storage. Installed 80GB Seagate drive into it - fits perfect (both: connector and drive inside of enclosure). Tried to shake vigorously - hard drive seems to sit just great, at least it didn't slide off connector.
Yes, screws are tiny. However, there was one extra screw in bag. I would recommend to assemble enclosure above flat surface, such as desk or bare floor - you will be able to find that screw if it falls out of your hand.
WinXP recognized it right away. Works as it should.
I would recommend this enclosure - you can't go wrong for this price.

Surprised everyone has given this such great reviews, if those reviews are genuine. The base design if this is pretty good, but there are a couple design flaws that hamper the functionality.
As you can see from the pictures, you simply plug your SATA drive into the removable SATA port, and then you slide the drive into the enclosure, insert two screws, and you're done (unfortunately it's not that easy). If the enclosure simply snapped into place like a similar Rosewill model case does this thing would rock, but instead they chose to use screws, and that's where the problems start.
The screws they used for these are tiny, and I mean TINY, not much bigger than eyeglass screws. If you dropped one of these on the floor or anywhere else you'd never find it. They provide you with a tiny cheap screwdriver, simply because you'd have a REALLY hard time finding a screwdriver small enough to work with this. That means that if and when you lose or misplace the enclosed screwdriver, you're in trouble.
Next problem is that the screws (at least mine) did NOT fit well at all. The screw holes in the outer case didn't line up well with the inner piece when it's put together, and the screws go in as if they're cross threading no matter what you do. Perhaps they machined the threads incorrectly, or perhaps they mismatched the screws that were supposed to be used with it, but whatever the reason the screws simply do not thread well at all and I had to repeat the process several times.
Between the screw size, the required custom screwdriver, the mis-alignment problem, and the threading issues, it exposes a design flaw with the unit that could EASILY have been resolved if they had simply designed it like the Rosewill SATA case that I own. The Rosewill case doesn't use screws to attach the outer enclosure, you simply slide it on and there are notches on either side where a springy plastic piece pops into a slot. To remove it you simply press in on both sides at the same time and slide that side of the case off (there's a top and a bottom to that enclsure). It would have been much easier with this enclosure because there's no top and bottom.
If they had just used that same design concept it would literally take you no more than 10 seconds to install or remove a hard drive, and you could probably do it in 5. Instead, it took a good 5 to 10 minutes of carefully threading the screws in. Thankully I have a magnetizer so the first thing I did was magnetize the included screwdriver which made it much easier. Without that this really would have been a pain.
This enclosure is worth the price I suppose, but I can't recommend it due to the screw issues. It's convenient if you just want to use it for backing up or restoring data from a spare HD, but if you actually want to use it as an enclosure I'd look elsewhere.

I bought this to use to watch downloaded movies on my PS3. I needed to plug in both USB cables to power it when connected to my PC. The PS3 would not recognize it however. Enclosure works great for PCs and notebooks.

Having just upgraded the hard drive in my notebook computer, I needed an enclosure for the old internal drive so I could have additional portable USB storage. I didn't want a plastic case so I found this one. It took around two minutes for me to put my old hard drive into this enclosure and screw it tight. The finished product looks and works great. I have dropped from my desk while running, Not good, and it still works and is still solid as a rock. Best bang for the Buck.
